Chicken Pide
I was once on the tube approaching the end of the line when an elderly man opposite me inquired whether there was anything to do in Cockfosters. He explained that he was retired and using his free time to visit the stops at the end of the tube lines (major life goals!).
I’ve got to admit I was a bit stumped. Apart from yummy mummies with fake hair and big cars and a nice park (it was raining though), there’s not much happening in my little home suburb.
However, there’s one thing we do well, and that’s food. Cockfosters parade is jam-packed with little cafes and restaurants that cater to every taste. It’s the perfect place for a lazy Sunday brunch or a fancy meal with the fam.
Our favourite family dinner spot is Skewd Kitchen, a sleek Mediterranean restaurant that’s packed to the brim most evenings and serves up delicious meat dishes.
Lamb Shish
I tend to go for the lamb – the lamb shish (above) is super tasty and their honey lamb chops are gorgeous. You’ve got to pace yourself though, as you don’t want to miss out on the dessert! My go-to is the passion fruit crème brûlée. Didn’t think you could improve on a classic crème brûlée? Turns out you can.

Baked Alaska
So if you ever fall asleep and wake up at the end of the Piccadilly line, don’t fret! Tuck into a round of chops and an indulgent dessert at Skewd and you’ll be glad you missed your stop.
