July Beauty Roundup

My self-initiated immersion into the weird and wonderful world of beauty continues with another roundup of products I’ve been loving and loathing! This is a French edition hence the rustic touches, with these products making up my travel staples on my recent trip.

MAYBELLINE SUPERSTAY 24 SETTING SPRAY

I have to admit to being a bit underwhelmed by Maybelline’s setting spray, although this is partially down to the fact that it feels rather counterproductive to spray your face with liquid to make makeup last longer. I haven’t noticed a major difference to makeup longevity using this, though I already use a primer so my makeup lasts quite some time anyway. It was also a bit of a drag with eye makeup, as I’d end up with it down my face if I used this on top – you have to make sure your liquid liner or mascara is completely dry first or risk ending up with panda eyes!

MALIN + GOETZ ESSENTIAL KIT

This miniature set of Malin + Goetz essential products including cleanser, conditioner, shampoo, body wash and moisturiser could not be more travel perfect. They cover all the bases if you’re going away and don’t want to carry your entire bathroom cabinet, plus they’re under 100ml so can be carried in your hand luggage! I’m loving the face and body moisturiser combo, which feel lightweight and are quickly absorbed without leaving skin feeling greasy.

TOPSHOP CONTOUR CREAM

I’d been struggling to find a contour kit I could really get on board with as the formulas often tend to be quite thick and therefore look cakey when applied, however this Topshop cream has seriously changed the game for me. It’s great if you want to add a bit of subtle definition without going total Kardashian as its buildable and blends into the skin really nicely. I particularly love the texture; it’s super creamy so doesn’t feel drying and is easy to apply with fingers.

IT COSMETICS HELLO LIGHT CREME ILLUMINATOR WITH BRUSH

I’m becoming a bit of a highlight junkie and my latest aquisition is the IT Cosmetics illuminator. The colour is a light pearlescent which provides a glow without creating a full on disco ball effect. It comes with a handy brush for application, although I find it works just as well with fingers. It’s not super creamy so can cling a bit to dry patches, but overall if you’re looking for a subtle glow it’s a winner.

Have you tried any of these? Let me know what you’ve been rating and slating this month! I’ve got a ton of new beauty bits in already (beauty junkie in the making right here, to the detriment of my bank account), so keep an eye out for some more features coming soon.

The Topshop Contour Cream sounds amazing! I’ve been really into using creams for contour lately, I love the Clinique Chubby Contour Stick and the NARS Matte Multiple. I’ll have to give this one a swatch next time I’m in Topshop!
